J. Clayton Miller
Clay joined Jordan Law, LLC in July 2010.
A native of New Lisbon, IN, Clay graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Public Administration followed by joint J.D./M.P.A. degrees from Drake University Law School and Drake University College of Business and Public Administration. After passing the Indiana Bar Examination, the Indiana Supreme Court issued Clay a license to practice law in Indiana in 2000. He is also licensed to practice law in the (federal) United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana.
Clay’s entire legal career has been centered in Richmond, Indiana. However, Clay has represented clients throughout almost all of East Central and much of Central Indiana. Clay has also appeared pro hac vice to represent a handful of clients in Ohio.
Clay’s practice encompasses a traditional county general law practice. He represents clients in criminal defense, real estate matters, municipal law and zoning, probate, basic estate planning, guardianships, appellate practice, and all forms of family law (as well as other areas of the law). Early in his legal career, Clay served as the Assistant Wayne County Attorney. Recently, Clay earned credentials to be registered as a Certified Domestic Relations Mediator.
Clay enjoys an active life outside of the practice of law. He is happily married to his wife, Malia, and they have two great kids. The Miller family enjoys traveling and are always seeking new adventures. Clay is very active in his community, most notably serving as a three-term member of Richmond Common Council and as a member of the Board of Directors of Richmond Power & Light. During his tenure on Council and RPL, Clay has served in a number of leadership roles including, but not limited to: Council President, Council Vice-President, RPL Chairman of the Board, and RPL Vice-Chairman. Faith is of fundamental importance to Clay who is an active member of his Church where he serves as a deacon, and he participates in a number of Christian ministries.
